South Windsor Democrats
Democrats Choose Carol Driscoll as State Rep. Candidate

Board of Education Secretary Carol Driscoll has been nominated by the South Windsor Democrats to challenge four-term incumbent William Aman for the 14th District State Representative seat that encompasses most of South Windsor.

Driscoll was unanimously nominated at the Democratic caucus last week. She is serving her second term on the Board of Education and serves as Vice-Chairwoman of the Capital Projects Committee and as Chairwoman of the school board’s Public Policy Committee.
She is a retired training specialist for several state agencies.

After her nomination, Driscoll said that “it looked like my party wanted me to run, so I did.” She added that “my agenda will be the agenda of the people. The working class needs someone to speak up for them.”

Local Democrats Recognized For Service to South Windsor

The South Windsor Board of Education sponsors the Dr. Eugene Policelli Awards, which are awarded annually to three adults and two South Windsor High students who have made outstanding volunteer contributions to the town.

At this year’s ceremony, awards were given to two local Democrats, Brig. Gen. James Throwe and Cile Decker. Both have impressive records of volunteer service to the town, going back decades.

On behalf of the South Windsor Democratic Town Committee, we wish to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of Cile and Jim. Thank you for all that you do.

You can read more about this year’s awards at the Reminder News site.

Convention for Probate Judge Chooses Lassman Fisher

Marianne Lassman FisherThe Democratic nominating convention for the Greater Windsor Probate District Judge was held this past week in East Windsor. After two ballots, the delegates chose Marianne Lassman Fisher of South Windsor as the Democratic nominee. Fisher formerly served as Probate Judge for South Windsor, and also served two terms as the town’s Mayor.

Unsuccessful candidates for the position included James Welsh, Judith Paquin and Keith Yagaloff. Several of the candidates have indicated they intend to petition for a primary to decide the eventual Democratic nominee for the race.

The convention was held to choose a replacement candidate following the untimely death of incumbent Probate Judge Brian Griffin. The winner of the expected Democratic primary will face the Republican nominee in a special election in August.

A huge congratulation goes to both Jim Throwe and Pat Gately upon their unanimous re-election last evening as State Central Committeeman and Committeewoman for the Third Senatorial District.

You each make us proud.

Congratulations from all of us on the South Windsor Democratic Town Committee!
